Over 15 years ago, Jim Johnston realized the need for a company dedicated to providing quality value and added safety, environmental, and industrial hygiene services to its clients. He later founded Johnston EHS in March 2006, striving to deliver the quality service he knew his clients deserved.
Johnston EHS offers practical solutions and approaches to environmental issues. The experience we gained in the petrochemical, chemical, and hazardous waste industries has allowed for an in-depth understanding and a diverse approach to managing environmental issues.

Johnston EHS offers field-driven safety management programs and services, with experience gained from a chemical manufacturing site for a Fortune 500 company. The diverse regulatory and proactive safety measures employed in this tailor-made safety program were unique and quite effective. The safety processes offered by Johnston EHS, first and foremost, protect people; however, they are proven very successful at protecting corporate liabilities as well.

Johnston EHS offers industrial hygiene services and solutions that have been obtained by applying hands-on industrial hygiene in some of the most hazardous situations in the industry. The chemical and physical risks that have been managed over the past three decades make the industrial hygiene consultation very diverse. It has shown proven successes.​

With the Ohio Valley Training Center opening in 2018, we at Johnston EHS are expanding our capabilities, while sticking to our main goal of customer satisfaction and maintaining the level of success we have endured in the past.

On October 10, 2021, we lost our beloved founder and owner Jim Johnston. Jim’s extensive knowledge in the field of industrial hygiene can never be replaced. He was dedicated to protecting the environment and keeping people safe, while offering practical solutions for companies to do so. He genuinely loved his job and loved the people he was surrounded with on the staff of Johnston EHS and at the Ohio Valley Training Center.
Jim was the type of guy you always wanted on your side – whether that be playing pool volleyball or any of the other games he enjoyed playing on the side with friends and family, or that be in the work field. His charismatic approach to everything he did – including environmental, health, and safety consulting – drew people in and always commanded the attention in a room. He was someone who everyone sought advice and guidance from.
The staff of Johnston EHS and the Ohio Valley Training Center, alongside Jim’s wife, Kim, will continue to carry on his legacy. With decades of experience, our professional staff has the expertise and skills necessary to continue to deliver on our promises of quality service and customer satisfaction. As we move forward, Jim will stay with us in our hearts and minds. We’ll miss him dearly.
